Ami Konn? (Who are we?)

Ami Konn (Who are we?) is a short produced for the Storytelling Parade. The film is based on Vithai Zaraunkar, a post graduate of the Goa University and a member of the Kunbi tribe – an aboriginal community in the western Indian state of Goa.

Not permitting insults about her origins, through her schooling, Vithai took matters into her own hands and decided to embrace her roots. She took on a project to record the oral stories and songs of her tribe and the recordings will be a part of the national archive in Delhi with the project funded by the Ministry of Culture of the Govt of India.

The film seeks to explore the mind of Vithai in her own words.

Five billion say thank you across the world
One million people in fields where they toil
Five billion say thanks to their chosen God
Five billion people, but can we applaud?
Five billion eyes see the world’s plight
As one million icebergs disappear from sight
Five major continents trying to save One million trees from the feller’s blade
One summer night we remember and share
One more heart who will preserve it and care
Don’t wonder what you can do
Take ownership. It’s up to you.

Happy World Environment Day

Official theme of 2014 World Environment Day

Official theme of 2014 World Environment Day

WED is the opportunity for everyone to realize not only the responsibility to care for the Earth and to become agents of change.

How will you make your voice heard this year for the environment? The call this year is to recognize that we all face the same challenges and are connected and united by our common goal of a sustainable and prosperous life for all on this planet. The call is to raise our voice in solidarity with one another, particularly with the citizens of the small island states. Whether it is to  organize clean up campaigns, food waste reduction initiatives, walk-to-work days, plastic bans, art exhibits, tree-planting drives, concerts, dance recitals, recycling drives, social media campaigns and different contests  – every action counts. When multiplied by a global chorus, our individual voices and actions become exponential in its impact.

Sobit Amchem Goem

Music flows in the blood of the people of Goa and this song is the testimony.  “You’re So Beautiful”Canção do ParaisoSobit Amchem Goem.

This Song by Jeremiah 29:11 & YAHnEka has a mix of Konkani , English and Portuguese. It not only praises our land but also makes a very strong Anti-Mopa airport pitch and calls to rise up to the occasion. Fast up-beat music and Konkani rap makes it truly Canção do Paraiso (song of paradise). However, the video could have been better.

Singers in the sequence of  appearance : Benjamine Pinto, Norman Almeida, Menino Dias, Ronald Perry Da Silva, Bismarco Pinto, Lokesh Madan, Hitesh Madan .
Backup Vocals : Norman Almeida, Menino Dias, Bismarco Pinto, Ronaldo Perry Da Silva, Nazario Pereira & Terry Pinto.
